SHORELINE 2
On the shoreline the sharp sunlight and the heat dissolve the hard contours of the bodies. Figures walk, sit and lie on the beach, the colours of their bodies merging with the sand, or move in and out of shadow. Spots of reflected light: iridescence shifting, dissolving and re-forming the flesh, breaking down all clear perception of the boundaries, crystallising new forms. Bright flags of colour from towels, sunshades and costumes, startle and dazzle the eye, float among the sandy hues. The ever changing, ever constant ocean booms and sizzles along the shore; its mysterious depths mirror the colours of the air

These paintings are based on the beaches at Calpe.  The rocks and slopes of the nearby Peñon d'Ifac may be glimpsed in the background and found reflected in the forms and disposition of the bathers
